I am very sorry for you and your family. I lost my mother two years ago around this time. It is hard and leaves scars but as Alison says, there are the good memories to hug to oneself and to share with the family. And friends and readers are here to help and to rely upon as well.

I am so sorry, and I hope that your family and your memories will sustain you through the difficult days ahead. It’s more than twenty years since I lost my own father, and I have to say that, though I still miss him so much, you do learn to live with the gap in your life, and to appreciate how lucky you were.

Karen, I am so very, very sorry! What a sad loss. I know you’ve written about him here before: watching a science show together on TV? Taking a trip to America? Take very good care of yourself.

Thanks Kat – we are all pulling together and the offspring have been a great support. Time will heal, and he’s not suffering which is the main thing.
