Ahem.
As you can see, I am a little behind on my reading and reviewing of the latest releases in the wonderful British Library Crime Classics series….
However, I *have* read one title in the series recently, a rather wonderful collection of short works featuring (you’ve guessed it!) trains and entitled “Blood on the Tracks”. Put together by the excellent Martin Edwards, it’s a really strong entry into the series and absolutely unputdownable.
The book has the added bonus of a Sherlock Holmes pastiche and Lord Peter Wimsey (not in the same story, of course…) I can’t recommend this one highly enough and you can read my full review over at Shiny New Books! 🙂

I still haven’t read any of BLCC yet but since you enjoyed it, i believe the time has come for me to discover this new genre crime fiction

Golden Age crime is probably my favourite comfort read – vintage settings, a crime or conundrum and everything sorted out at the end by a wonderful detective! 🙂

They *are* awfully pretty – and so tempting. I could well end up having a BLCC binge soon….. 😉

Blood on the tracks is a great title. I do love a mystery that features a train journey, such a great setting for all sorts of crimes.

It’s really an excellent collection, and I like how varied it is – all sorts of trains feature, as well as stations, and the writers are so inventive! 🙂

Ooh, those look great! I’m so behind with these books, have several to read and want several more. That train one looks like a must have!

The railway one is definitely one of the high spots of the series – such a joy to read!

I love the sound of ‘Blood on the tracks’. Actually I reckon my son would love it – trains AND a Sherlock Holmes pastiche. I could buy him a copy (then, er, borrow it back! 😉 )

I haven’t seen this series over here. They sure have beautiful covers. I will have to remember to see if they are in Hobart.

They all sound so marvellous, that’s the trouble – I don’t quite know where to start first!

I love trains & alongside GA crime this is a must! I also have a pile of BLCC to read (9!) but it’s a nice position to be in 🙂

It certainly is the perfect combination. And yes, the luxury of having a pile of these to choose from is just wonderful!
