It seems impossible somehow that we’re up to November; it has been a manic year for me, and October was a particularly tricky month, dealing with frantic times at work and also sorting out stuff around the health of my Aged Parent. Books have therefore been something of a refuge again, and these are the ones I read during the previous month:
As you can see I am even further behind with my reviewing than usual! But it was a good reading month with only one book which didn’t inspire, and so I’m happy with that.
However, as I mentioned in my heading to this post, November is a month with many, many reading events – some of which I shall be taking part in, although I have mostly read the books in question in advance! Here are some of the events I know about!
- Novellas in November, hosted by Cathy and Rebecca
- German Literature Month, hosted by Lizzy and Caroline
- Margaret Atwood Reading Month, hosted by Buried in Print
- Nonfiction November, hosted by What’s Nonfiction
Those are just a few – I think there are more – and I have read a little for these so I can take part. As for the rest of the month, as usual I’ll let my mood take me where it will, and I do have plenty of choices! There are a good number of review books pending, and here’s just a selection:
Then there are other lovely books on the immediate TBR, and I’d happily pick up any of these next:
I’ll also be taking part in a blog tour for the British Library Women Writers series, and I’ll be covering a book I love – “A Pin to See the Peepshow” by F. Tennyson Jesse. It’s a compelling, powerful and absolutely marvellous read, and so I’m very happy it’s being brought back into print!
Apart from those – well, who knows! Watch this space (plus my Twitter and Instagram) to see what I read next! 😀

I’ve heard so much about A Pin to See the Peepshow but couldn’t find it anywhere, so am really glad it will be back in print! And of course I’m keeping an eye out for both novellas and German books. I finished The Passenger already (read it all day yesterday).
Nov 01, 2021 @ 09:26:23
I think it’s an outstanding novel – it was so long since I’d read it, yet so much had stayed with me. I’ve read The Passenger too – such a compelling book, couldn’t put it down….

November is such a crowded month for reading events. It’s also Australia Reading Month and SciFiction Month. I’ll be happy if I manage just two events.
Nov 01, 2021 @ 11:23:52
Yes, there are so many this month. I’m not pressurising myself about it – the events will have to fit in with my reading moods!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 16:06:11
A good approach unless you went to create yet more stress
Nov 01, 2021 @ 16:11:51
Definitely😊😊
Nov 01, 2021 @ 11:19:58
I give you credit for being a part of these events! There are so many good ones that I think it’s hard to pick and choose which ones to do! I’ll be looking forward to your commentary as we go through the month.
Nov 01, 2021 @ 11:23:22
You’re right Margot, it’s hard to choose when there are so many. I do like to take part, but it has to fit in with what I want to read, too! 😀
Nov 01, 2021 @ 12:35:28
Looking forward to your BLWW thoughts, of course! I am trying to read a novella day in November, though my diary is already looking too full for that 😀
Nov 01, 2021 @ 13:43:28
Ah, well, I love Pin so I’m sure it will be a glowing review! And I think you’re very brace trying to do a novella a day, but what fun! 😀
Nov 01, 2021 @ 13:22:38
Lots of lovely options for your November reading there, and I hope you enjoy whatever you decide to chose. I’m not sure which of these events (if any) I’ll end up participating in this month…it may well be a function of chance in the end, depending on what catches my eye at the time!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 13:42:49
Well, tbh, I’m so behind with my reviews (or ahead with my reading if you want to put it like that!) I’ve pretty much read what I’m going to for the challenges, unless something changes dramatically. Just following my reading mood at the moment!!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 15:17:16
Thanks for the shout out – looks like you have some nice choices this month.
Nov 01, 2021 @ 16:12:34
Indeed! Spoiled for choice!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 17:18:53
So many events! I’m hoping to take part in GLM and NovNov by doubling up, and MARM. I do have loads of non-fiction I’m always meaning to read too though…
I have the green Virago edition of Pin and I keep meaning to get to it, I’m sure the BLWW reviews will encourage me!
Wishing you an enjoyable month of reading ahead Kaggsy, whatever you decide on!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 19:09:05
Thank you Madame B – there are lots of lovely choices for the month, and I do hope you get to read Pin – I think it’s marvellous!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 17:35:07
Wow you has such a great reading month. I am also hoping to tick off some of those reading challenges, it’s a good month for them. I am delighted to see A Pin to See the Peepshow back in print, it’s an excellent novel.
Nov 01, 2021 @ 19:08:17
Yes, it was a good reading month, which is perhaps indicative of the fact that I was hiding from real life in books! Pin is brilliant, isn’t it – so glad to see it back in print!
Nov 01, 2021 @ 21:35:25
What nice piles! I’m doing Nonfiction November, Novellas in November and AusReading Month but luckily plenty of overlap there!
Nov 02, 2021 @ 11:22:06
Yes, if you can find a book which fits more than one event that helps!!
Nov 02, 2021 @ 00:03:09
This really is a month that has an embarrassment of riches as far as reading events go. My reading seems to be heading in different directions than the events though, so I’ll just have to play it by ear and see if anything overlaps with the reading. Enjoy the books you pick up this month and may all of them be marvelous!
Nov 02, 2021 @ 11:21:46
It does, and I would like to join in for more of them, but it always depends on my mood. As long as the reads are good ones that’s all that matters really! 😀
Nov 02, 2021 @ 15:47:48
It just so happens that I’ve a small pile of novellas so I’m doing that one!
Nov 02, 2021 @ 15:52:53
Good plan! I love a good novella!
Nov 03, 2021 @ 07:01:56
Nov 06, 2021 @ 14:47:17
I see you have a busy month ahead of you. I hope you’ll join me in the readalong of The Passenger. I haven’t started yet as it’s towards the end of the month. I hope it’s not too similar to the Remarque I’m reading now.
Nov 06, 2021 @ 15:20:12
There’s lots on, but I’m a bit ahead of myself at the moment, so I should cope. As for The Passenger, I *will* be posting about it on 26th but I have to confess to having finished it… I started and just couldn’t put it down – a powerful book!
Nov 06, 2021 @ 15:29:18
That’s a good sign though isn’t it? Sounds like I chose well. Always a gamble when you don’t know the book. 😊
Nov 06, 2021 @ 15:30:25
I think so. It’s a gripping read, but also has so much to say which is still relevant today.
Nov 07, 2021 @ 07:17:52
I’m looking forward to it.
Nov 07, 2021 @ 14:53:05
