I must admit that after the recent bout of poorliness I’ve felt in need of treats recently, and OH (who is always so good at surprising me with unexpected gifts) came up trumps with an early birthday present in the form of tickets for the 60th anniversary tour of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap”!
As such a huge Christie fan, it seems a little odd that I’ve never seen her most famous play. However, OH was clever enough to notice that the tour had its last night at the local big town and got us tickets in the third row – how cool is that! The offspring were sworn to secrecy so this was a wonderful, wonderful treat and really gave me a lift when I needed it!
I shan’t say much about the plot except that it’s classic golden age crime – set in a snowbound manor house-cum-guesthouse in the 1950s with murder and mayhem and a killer in their midst. The cast were absolutely wonderful and the whole experience was grand! If you haven’t seen “The Mousetrap” and you love Christie – well, what are you waiting for? 🙂

So glad you got to see it finally. I loved it when I saw it nearly two years ago. What a superb surprise. Even though I’ve seen it and can remember it well I would happily see it again.
Strangely I have had massive blog hits on my post about The Mousetrap the last few days and I couldn’t work out why. Then I looked at the search terms used and realised people were searching a particular actor (who Twitter tells me has gone into Eastenders) who I mentioned in the post. I love the randomness of the internet.

Yes, I wouldn’t mind seeing it again, it was so enjoyable! And like you, I did guess about halfway through, but that didn’t spoil it at all.
The Internet is so strange – I’ve had the strangest of search terms point people to my blog. Truly the ways of Google are impenetrable!

How lovely. It’s years and years since I saw The Mousetrap, I’d love to see it again, and I am quite sure that you are going to have a wonderful time. Well done OH!

He’s jolly good at getting me surprises – but then, we’ve been together for 35 years or so, so he ought to know me well by now! 🙂

Is the Mousetrip still playing in London? I saw it there on our first visit in 1978. At that time it was one of the “sights” recommended to all American tourists. It was long-running even then, and we had a wonderful time.

Indeed it is – it’s broken every record going, which is tribute to Dame Agatha’s skill, I think. I loved it!

Glad you enjoyed it and that it made you feel better. I saw it for the first time earlier this year as I bought my mum tickets for Christmas, well I bought her a mousetrap and hoped she would get the reference. It is certainly a great play. Now I want to read more Christie, posts about her work always do this.

Oh, you must read Christie – she’s amazing! Start at the beginning and read her chronologically – what a treat!

I have started doing that as much as possible and have a list of Poirot novels on my iPad to tick off when I have read them. With work being busy I think I crave the comfort and familiarity of her work.
Nov 23, 2014 @ 16:15:43
She’s certainly ideal comfort reading!

I’m so sorry to hear you’ve been poorly and do hope you are fully recovered now! Isn’t it awful, I can’t remember if I’ve seen The Moustrap or not – I must have done, because I’ve been such a Christie fan. Obviously, seeing it again should be on my list of priorities!
Nov 23, 2014 @ 16:33:18
I’m getting there – I’m only coughing like I’m on 20 a day, not 40, now!
The Mousetrap was just fab – I’d love to see it again, and I definitely think you should! 🙂
Nov 23, 2014 @ 19:17:27
Glad you enjoyed The Mousetrap and it sounds as if it gave you a much-needed boost! Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks! Yes, it was a lovely treat – now if I can only get rid of this cough…. :s
Nov 24, 2014 @ 09:54:38
This sounds wonderful! I’m so glad you had an enjoyable time, and I’m definitely adding this to my list of things to see. Feel better soon! x

Am I the only person to have not yet seen it? Oh dear!

😉 You must! It’s wonderful!
